Weaving

Once the last leaf has fallen, the branches are ready to be harvested by fishermen and woven into withy pots. Some trees are left for one more year of growth, to produce thicker, longer branches, preferred by some coves.

During this time on every eve, the piskies re-emerge to prepare the fibres of leaves. These are then woven into catkin pots in which the young make the bottoms and the elders make the tops.
